HINDMAN, Allan Rutherford Passed away peacefully at Parkview Meadows Christian Retirement Village on Monday, October 31st in his 95th year. Beloved husband of Norma for 66 years. Loving father of Wayne (Maryanne) and Douglas (Carole). Grandfather to David, Nicole, Kyle, and Jeffrey. Great grandfather to Preston, Jaxson, and Kayla. Allan is survived by his sister Shirley Proctor and predeceased by his brothers Lorne, Elmer, and sisters Norma and Olga. Allan served in WWII with the Canadian Corps and was a member of the Caledonia Legion Branch 154. After returning from the war he became an OPP officer with the Windsor Detachment where he served for 11 years. He later bought a grocery store in Delhi and relocated to the Lucky Dollar Grocery Store in Caledonia. After selling the business he worked as a security officer at the Nanticoke Generating Station until his retirement. Allan suffered a stroke in the year 2000 and he fought hard to not let it slow him down. It was a familiar sight to see him travelling through town on his red scooter. Visitation was held at MILLER FUNERAL CHAPEL, 28 Caithness St. E., Caledonia on Friday, November 4, 2016, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. immediately followed by a family service. Interment of ashes to follow at Caledonia Cemetery. Special thanks to the nursing staff at Parkview Meadows L.T.C. for their care and devotion over the past 10 years.
