Passed away suddenly at Lakeridge Health Oshawa on Saturday, May 27th, 2017. John Brant Matthews in his 83rd year. Beloved husband of Doreen (nee: Laughlin). Loving father of Robert and his wife Barb, and David and his wife Cory. Papa of Russell, Melissa, Sarah, Megan and Katie. Dear brother of Joan Matthews and the late Lois Brandt. Uncle of Nancy and Christopher Brandt. Predeceased by his parents Ada and John Matthews. John will be best remembered for his years of service to Northminster United Church, Brookside Park, Scouts Canada and his many Tax clients. Visitation will be held at OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, 847 King Street West (905-721-1234) on Thursday, June 1st from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 p.m. and at NORTHMINSTER UNITED CHURCH (676 Simcoe St. N., Oshawa) on Friday, June 2nd from 11:00 a.m. until time of Funeral Service at 12:00 noon.
