JosephTURNER,

Joseph TURNER,
TURNER, Joseph November 20, 1941 – May 12, 2017 When first diagnosed Joe decided to teach cancer a thing or two. By his optimism, grit, determination and by living his life to the fullest, he succeeded. Thank you to his wise and gifted oncologist, Dr. T. Kouroukis, and to Karen Running R.N. at Jurvinski Hospital for giving Joe the best of treatments and encouragement. To Dr. Ivanyi and her team, we are grateful for the kind and attentive care that was given to Joe and our family. Joe enjoyed birding the Spring Migrations and canoeing with his friends. Many summers have been spent at the best park in Ontario, Highland Resort in Lowbanks. He cycled with his gang, golfed, played darts, helped out where needed and was content just hanging out with his friends there. Joe retired from Stelco Frost Works nineteen years ago. Renovating his daughters’ homes was a favourite pastime. He could fix anything. He leaves to grieve and remember him his wife Eleanor, daughter Rev. Peg. Turner (Martha) and daughter Catherine Campanelli. He loved, enjoyed and was proud of his grandchildren James LaFitte, Chiara and Nick Campanelli. Joe was an only child, but he considered Barb Olsen (Ted), his sister. A special thank you to those who visited or stayed connected during this time, especially Jim Chapman who stayed with Joe to the end and Peg, who showed her love for her Dad daily and offered support to her Mom on this journey. Thank you also to his friend, Rev. John MacPhail, for his heart-felt words and prayers at Joe’s bedside that created a sacred space for those with Joe to say our good-byes. Of course, thank you to the staff at Emmanuel House Hospice for their tender and loving care of Joe. Honouring Joe’s wishes there will be no funeral service. If you wish, donations can be made to your favourite charity in his memory.
