LOUISIOANNOU

LOUIS IOANNOU With profound sadness and overwhelming sorrow, we announce that in the early morning of December 27, 2016, after a long, valiant, hard fought battle against cancer, our beloved Louis passed away peacefully at Baycrest Hospital. Predeceased by parents Polixene and Stefanos, brother Pandelis and sister Soula, he is survived by the love of his life, his devoted wife Dianna (Despina) of 61 years, brother Larry (Susan), cherished children Rita (Nicholas) Giugias, Tom (Panteha Golkar) and Stephanie (Barry Stringer) and adored grandchildren Zachary and Alexandra Giugias. Born on January 8, 1932 in Florina, Greece and coming to Canada in 1951 as a brave teenager, he built a successful career as a restaurateur, most notably Humbertown Restaurant & Banquet Hall in Etobicoke and was well known in Toronto’s Florina community. Louis’ smile, his humour, his generosity and his unconditional love brightened up all of our lives. Nothing meant more to him than his family and he will forever live within all of us. Our warmest thank you to all the CCAC caregivers who took such wonderful care of him at home, all the nurses and staff at North York General Oncology floor and ICU, Dr. Robson and to all the guardian angel nurses at the Baycrest Palliative Care Unit. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 30th from 4-9 p.m. at the Highland Funeral Home, 10 Cachet Woods Court, Markham. Funeral Service will be held Saturday, December 31st at 10 a.m. at St. Panteleimon Greek Orthodox Church, interment at Elgin Mills Cemetery to follow. If desired, donations may be made in his memory to North York General Hospital or Prostate Cancer Canada.
