Margaret,Alice SARDO (nee Hardcastle)

SARDO, Margaret, Alice (nee Hardcastle) It is with much love and sorrow in our hearts that we announce the peaceful passing our gracious Mother. Surrounded by her family, Margaret passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospital on her 96th Birthday. She was born on the Hamilton Mountain, on March 16, 1921. Pre- deceased by her parents Harry and Alice Hardcastle, and her brothers Fred and George. Mom’s life has always been dedicated to her family. Beloved wife of the late Tony Sardo – their enduring love was a role model to all of us. Cherished Mother to Diane (Bill) Blackborow, and Judy (Steve) Redmond, and late son-in-law Norm Vickers. A devoted Nana to her four loyal grand- children who were one of her greatest treasures, Julie (Tares) Bobiak, Krista (Jeremy) Locs, Tyler (Jennifer) Blackborow, and Devon (Trevor) Howes-Jones. Margaret was also a wonderful “GG” and now a guardian angel to her five great-grandchildren who she loved so much, Nathan, Blake and Trent, Jonah, and Lukaya. She also held a very special bond with the Redmond children who were a valued part of her life. She is also predeceased by her loving companion, James McKeen. Margaret was a Secretary during the 1940’s at the Royal Connaught Hotel, a position that she held in high regard. She was a great friend to many and she enjoyed spending time playing bridge, euchre, dancing, travelling the world and creating memories with her family at her cottage in Port Dover. A heartfelt thank you to the outstanding Dr. Anne Boyle, and the palliative care team at St. Joseph’s. The compassion and support given by the CTU West nurses was remarkable and comforting as we shared her last days with her. Special thanks to Villa Italia, CCAC, and the VON nurses for their compassionate care. Our memories will be held dear in our hearts. She has left with us the recipe for life. Family and friends are invited to the visitation at M.A. Clark & Sons Funeral Home, 567 Upper Wellington St., Hamilton, on Monday, March 20, 2017 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. A Celebration of Life will be held at Olivet United Church, 40 Empress Ave., Hamilton, on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at 11 a.m. Reception and lunch will be held immediately following the Celebration of Life, prior to interment at Mount Hamilton Cemetery.
