PETER BLANCE Born in Leith, Edinburgh, Scotland May 17, 1944. Passed away suddenly September 9, 2016 in Oakville, Ontario, at the age of 72 years. A loving husband to Pamela (nee James) for fifty years. Will be sadly missed by his sons Erik (Leanne) and Rognvald (Kassandra) and his daughter Courtney (Dave) and his grandsons Riley, Westyn, Aidan, Damian and Ryan. The son of the late Peter and Bessie Blance, formerly of Shetland and Orkney. Survived by his brother Robert and sister-in-law Elma and nephew Peter Blance of Edinburgh. His relatives and friends here and abroad will miss his wonderful stories and quick wit. Peter served seven years with the Metropolitan Police Service in Toronto, after a few years of service in Scotland. He joined the IRB (The Immigration and Refugee Board) for the next twenty-five years until his retirement. Peter was passionate about politics and reading and was a talented artist receiving at age sixty-five a Fine Arts Certificate from Sheridan College. In the last few years he went back to his favourite “sport”, pool. The “Top Guns” will surely miss him at eight and nine ball. Visitation will be at Ward Funeral Home, 109 Reynolds Street, Oakville, from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. on Friday, September 16, 2016. Funeral will take place at St. Jude’s Anglican Church, 160 William Street, Oakville, at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 17, 2016. Reception to follow.
