PHYLLISREBECCA (POGSON) ROBSON

PHYLLIS REBECCA ROBSON (nee POGSON) June 14, 1946 – August 8, 2016 With great sorrow we announce the passing of Phyllis at Ian Anderson House, after a brief battle with cancer. Beloved wife of Robert and older sister to Thelma, Robert, Allan and George. Born in Crystal City, Manitoba, Phyllis was a lifelong Educator. She taught primary school in Manitoba, Ontario and Grand Cayman. She completed her teaching career with the Peel Board of Education as a Teacher-Librarian at the Fernforest Public School in Brampton. After retirement, she continued to share her education skills by volunteering with ESL and adult literacy training in Oakville. Her volunteer activities lead to a close, lasting friendship with Nelly Ferguson, “the daughter she never had”. Phyllis was very active in the Retired Women Teachers organization. Her activities were focused in the Mississauga and Oakville branches where she served on the executive and as a representative to the provincial Board of Directors. Her favourite activities included involvement in various interest groups including jewellry making, book and investment clubs as well as lunch and travel groups. This involvement led to lasting friendships and extraordinary support in her final days. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, August 12, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Ward Funeral Home, 109 Reynolds Street, Oakville. We would like to thank Dr. Helen Pyle and the staff at Ian Anderson House for their care and support. Memorial donations are requested to Ian Anderson House, which provides cancer hospice services for the Peel and Halton communities. Please visit our Book of Memories at www.wardfuneralhome.com
