SLOBODNIK, Alojzij “Slavko” Passed away peacefully at St. Peter’s Hospital, Hamilton on Sunday, August 28, 2016 in his 82nd year. Beloved husband of Olga for 50 wonderful years. Cherished father of Joe (Linda), and Mary (Igor). Proud Stari Ata of Kristina, Carmen, Joshua, and the late Justin. He will be dearly missed by his sister Marija. Predeceased by his parents Marko and Marija, and his siblings Rezka, Joze, and Anna. Alojzij will always be fondly remembered by his extended family in Canada and Slovenia. He took great pride in his fruit and vegetable garden and loved the outdoors. He retired from Dofasco (where his colleagues knew him as Louie) after 27 years of dedicated service. A loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He will be sadly missed. A heartfelt thank you to all family and friends for their prayers, love and support during this difficult time. A special thank you to St. Peter’s Hospital for their compassionate care. Visitation at MARKEY DERMODY FUNERAL HOME , 1774 King Street East (at Kenilworth) on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. with Vigil Prayers at 3:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Gregory the Great Slovenian Roman Catholic Church, 125 Centennial Parkway North, on Thursday, September 1, 2016 at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at Our Lady of the Angels Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Gregory the Great Slovenian Church or McMaster Children’s Hospital would be appreciated by the family.
