WILLIAM “WILLIE” GIERKINK Peacefully passed away, at Markham-Stouffville Hospital at the age of 85. Cherished husband of Theresia. Loving father of Ron and Rob (Tia) and grandfather to Addison, Kendra and Wesley. He will be deeply missed by his extended family and friends. Willie was a well-known Ontario Horseman who achieved notoriety with his thoroughbreds Moonlit Beauty, Rocket Plan and Kadley. He was a successful Breeder and Businessman within the racing industry. Family will receive friends at the O’Neill Funeral Home, 6324 Main Street, Stouffville, on Friday, March 31, 2017 from 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will take place at St. Mark’s Roman Catholic Church on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. Private family interment. In lieu of flowers, the Gierkink family would ask that you make a donation to the “Kids First” Fund, a special fund set up by the Stouffville Minor Hockey Association to help families in need with the cost of hockey for their children.
