John Albert PARKIN

November 1934 – June 2021


Passed away on Wednesday, June 16, 2021 in Hamilton, Ontario in his 87th year. Beloved husband of the late Lois (2015). Survived by his loving and devoted daughters Susan and Lesa, and grandchildren Josh (Jessica), Jordan, Megan (Matt) and his beautiful great-grandchildren Madelyn, Jaxson, Sophia, Aiva, and Abby.

Predeceased by his parents Clarence and Hannah. Loving brother of Lloyd (Gertie) (both predeceased), Edward (Katie) (both predeceased), Vern (Betty) (both predeceased), Pat (Larry-predeceased), and Gary-predeceased (Ethel). Missed dearly by Joan and Owen (predeceased).

John had a great passion for his family, whom he loved immensely. He was also an avid card player, loved Cribbage and Euchre, and monthly Friday night poker parties with the boys. He worked for the TH & B, and then retired from Stelco after many years of service, and is a longtime member of the Church of the Resurrection. Special thank you to community support workers, home care PSWs and home care nursing staff that cared for our Dad over the years. Uncle John left a special thank you to Colleen for all her potato salads.

In accordance with the regulations of the Bereavement Authority of Ontario due to COVID-19, all visitations, funerals and interments are restricted to a specified number of attendees. All visitors will be required to wear a face covering, as well as provide name and telephone number to funeral home staff.

Visitation will be held at the Marlatt Funeral Home, 615 Main St. East (east of Sanford Ave.), Hamilton, on Monday, June 21, 2021 from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. Please call the Marlatt Funeral Home at 905-528-6303 to schedule a time to attend the visitation.
