Ron ADAMS

Ron ADAMS

November 15, 1944 – January 26, 2021
Ron’s ashes will be interred on Friday, July 30th in a private family service in the Memorial Gardens at Wellington Square United Church, Burlington. Border restrictions have eased, and family members from New Hampshire can come home.
Evan Adams, Ruby and Ella Zeman are holding onto special memories of Grandpa; his knack for telling interesting and funny bedtime stories, his applause for good cannon balls into the backyard pool, his love of good food and his interest in exploring new restaurants and new recipes, his supervision of the hot wheel track set up, his enjoyment of picnics in the back of the van, his big smile when the knife fell out of a pocket on stage.
Jim and his wife Di and Heather are remembering their brother; sharing a glass of red wine with them, trying to figure out those crazy wire puzzles, eating hamburgers at the cottage, camping at Summer House Park, relishing the taste of pickerel fresh from the lake and into the frying pan over the fire.
Chris and his wife Kirsty, Deb and her husband Brian Zeman are treasuring memories of Dad; sitting around a campfire, sipping a summertime Caesar, sharing his love of cooking, tasting that first platter of nachos when they were the “in” appetizer, making the best stuffing for the Christmas turkey and then turning over the carving of it when the time was right, sitting at the head of the table proud of all those gathered and making sure that everyone felt welcome, agreeing to let Brian and Kirsty skip the cream tuna and celebrating that Chris and Deb had found the best life partner for each of them and now have beautiful families.
Barb Bazulka has many stories about times spent with her brother -in-law and late husband and Ron’s nieces and nephews shared good times with Ron over the years.
Lia Fagan knows Ron as an extra special friend who found a place for her in his family; protecting her, standing by her, helping her navigate the challenges and also patiently teaching her to drive.
Close friends can laugh when thinking about the various camping stories that are likely best not shared, when remembering cheering about Ron’s hole in one and when celebrating the over forty years together watching the crystal ball fall at midnight.
Claudia cherishes the memories and gifts that come with fifty two years of marriage; family trips to the east and west coast, summers camping, road trips through the mountains on the way to Nashua, New Hampshire; the house full of family at Christmas time, Boxing Day curry feasts, laughter and fun in the living room with the Bar C boys, Santa Sacks overflowing; twilight on the porch at Treasure Lake Pennsylvania while the deer wander across the ninth fairway, drives in the country, the 5:00 pause at the end of the day’s busyness; the special bond of husband and wife, mom and dad working together to give their children strong roots and then enjoying watching them find their wings and venture into life.
Ron graduated with his MSc from McMaster University and then built a career with IBM. After early retirement he enjoyed curling at Burlington Curling Club, golfing with friends, having time to really read the Globe and Mail and spending time at the trailer at Shore Acres Park in Port Dover. He spent over ten years as a key volunteer at the Friday Night Community ( dinner ) at Wellington Square being one of the original group who helped start this ministry. He was a trusted and respected colleague, a good mentor with a sincere heart, and was of course loved by family and friends.
Family and friends will gather together on Friday to raise a glass and honour a special man – grandpa, brother, dad, husband and friend. In honour of Ron, please raise a glass on Friday also; honour Ron’s life of integrity, filled with commitment, generosity and love. Celebrate his life and pay these traits forward to others.
