CANTAGALLI, Vittorio

CANTAGALLI, Vittorio 1935 – 2019 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father, husband and friend, Vittorio Cantagalli, peacefully surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer.

He leaves behind his wife of nearly sixty years, Rosa. Proud father of Anna, Rino, Marco (Rosetta), and Sandra (David). Pre- deceased by his parents, Giuseppe and Anna Cantagalli, his sister Delfina Gnagnarella (Armando), Mario Cantagalli (Fiorina), Romano Cantagalli, and Gildo Cantagalli (Maria). Loving uncle to Felice Gnagnarella (Mirella), Roberto Gnagnarella (Titti), Peppino Cantagalli (Concetta), Mauro Cantagalli (Daniela), Fabrizio Cantagalli (Dina), Anna Cantagalli (Luigi), and Lanfranco Cantagalli. Beloved brother-in-law of Antonieta (Romano Cantagalli). He leaves behind many great-nieces, nephews and friends.

Vittorio arrived in Canada in 1959 from Treglio, Italy with a dream and a desire to make a better life for himself and his family. He was a machinist for over 40 years. He worked for Toronto Heel and Neo Industries. Vittorio had many varied interests. He was president of the West Mountain Bocci Association for several years and was a vital part of its inception and development. He was an active member of Regina Mundi Parish, volunteered for the Good Shepherd, Regina Gardens and Villa Italia. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus for over fifty years. He was a proud recipient of the Distinguished Citizen of the Year Award. His passions were his garden and community service. He loved to boast about his tomatoes and was convinced he grew the hottest peppers in town. His heart forever remained in his homeland of Italy. He would have celebrated his 60th anniversary in June. Vittorio was loved and respected by so many. He will forever have a home in our hearts.

Thank you so much to the doctors and nurses and support staff of the Juravinski Cancer Centre for their kindness, care and attention towards our father.
