DEMERLING, William Gordon

DEMERLING, William GordonĀ It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of William Gordon Demerling on March 24, 2019 at the age of 90.

Will had a love for cars that brought him together with Valerie Lee Nicholson. While washing his car, he managed to spray Val with the hose and ended up married for 64 years, a wonderful couple. In 1964, Will established Demerling Electric Supply in Stratford and Hamilton in 1983. With a strong work ethic and customer service at the core, he grew it into a successful family run business still operating today with hundreds of customers that also became friends. Until recently, you could still find Will at the shop or out on a delivery.

Will was father and biggest fan of Mark, Daniel, Joseph, Lee, and Vaughn, nine grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Rarely did he miss cheering from the sidelines or behind the bench as the coach for hockey, football, baseball, motocross, figure-skating, and soccer games. Will is survived by youngest sister Alice Harrington and will be greatly missed by his sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews of the Harrington, Moore, Nicholson, Hammond, and Kain families. He was a rare combination of someone who had a love of life, food, and a firm understanding of what was important – supporting and cherishing the family around him and any stranger he encountered in need.

Will’s importance of a life lived with the ones you love over any material possession was only limited by his attachment to his TV remote control watching any sport. He was the foundation on which the Demerlings were built, and anyone who ever met Bill, Billy, WillyD, Uncle Bill, or Grampa Willy will smile and have a story to share. A Life Well Lived. You are in our hearts forever.

The Celebration of Will’s life will be held at the Marquis Gardens, 1365 Sandhill Drive, Ancaster on Saturday, May 4 from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m.

Donations in honour of either Will’s favorite family pets (his dogs) to dogguides.com or his Generous Heart to those in need to outofthecold.ca would be welcomed.
