Frank Moore

FRANK MOORE was born July 13, 1921, the third child of Albert John William “Jack” Moore and Charlotte (nee West, later married George Hanson) [1893-1975], in their home in East York, Ontario, Canada.

Frank’s siblings were Kathleen Elizabeth (William Campbell Stewart) [1911-95], John Charles “Jack” (Alice & Helen), Leonard [1925-28], Edwin Albert Christopher “Bill” (Joanne), and Gordon Edward (Mildred) [1928].

Frank attended school in East York, briefly at East York Collegiate before he had to seek employment at 14 years of age. While commercial art was the career of interest, the times intervened, and he went to work to support his mother and younger brothers during the Depression.

Frank was introduced to his future wife, Elsie Delavigne [1922-2010], in 1937 by mutual friend, Fred Reesby. Frank joined the army in 1942 and served in the RCCS until the end of World War II. Returning home, Elsie and Frank married on April 13, 1946. Home was an apartment until their new house was completed in Birch Cliff (Scarborough Township) at 24 Rhydwen Avenue.

Family became the focus of Frank’s life with children Patricia Sharon “Patsy” [1947-1951], Leonard Brian [1950], David Allan [1953], James Eric [1955] and Carl Raymond [1959] getting his attention. Frank devoted his life to his family, to the extended families, and to community activities that benefited his children.

Work-life was as a warehouseman for the Toronto Transit Commission for almost 40 years. Community involvement included providing leadership in the local Scout Group, various roles in support of the sports life of his boys, and the friends and neighbours of Rhydwen Avenue.

He loved turning attention to his home, his automobile, and enjoying an evening out with his wife and friends.

Frank will be missed by all those whose lives he touched.
