GOULD-PERKS, Rosemary (Roddie)

GOULD-PERKS, Rosemary (Roddie) It is with sadness we announce the death of Roddie on Thursday, January 10, 2019, aged 71, after a brief illness.

Predeceased by her husband Larry, parents Arthur and Kathleen Gould and Margaret Gould. She is survived by her sister Jennifer (Edward) nephew Chris, niece Melanie (Mark), great-nephew Tristan and great-niece Trinity. Extended family Randall, Sara, Megan, Michael and their children Katerina, Olivia, Rachel and Hannah, and great-grandchildren Lena and Thea.

Roddie came to Canada from Yorkshire, England, in 1968, living first in Toronto and finally settling in Hamilton, where she has made many contributions to this community. Roddie had a passion for all creatures great and small. She had a welcoming, free, indomitable spirit and caring nature toward everyone she met, making great friends and never forgetting a name. She was known in the Hamilton community for her tireless efforts rescuing stray and abandoned cats, and she had a keen interest in the Donkey Sanctuary of Canada in Guelph. No task was too big for her.

Roddie was a longtime member of Christ’s Church Cathedral and a member of the Order of Niagara, for her dedication as a volunteer. She touched many lives and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her, including pets Mikey and Friendly.

A special thank you to all the nurses and doctors at the Juravinski Hospital, who took great care of Roddie.

Cremation has taken place, and a Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, January 19, at 11 a.m., at Christ’s Church Cathedral.

Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to a pet charity of your choice or to Christ’s Church Cathedral or HARRRP.
