JOHNSON, Frank Walter

JOHNSON, Frank Walter

JOHNSON, Frank Walter With sadness in our hearts, the family of Frank Walter Johnson announce his passing on Friday, October 19, 2018 in his 92nd year.

Frank always wanted to become the longest living Johnson of the family ancestry (he did a lot of genealogy mapping) and we’re happy to say, “HE DID IT”. As Betty’s (nee Snelling) beloved husband for almost 66 years he will be greatly missed by her and will live on in her memories. Frank was a strong man but also a very gentle and caring person. He adored his family – immediate and extended – and always loved to see everyone. Any family event was a special moment for Frank and many will remember his saying “high days and bonfire nights”. His children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were a special part of his life – Frank loved every moment he had with all of them. Reciprocally, all of us cherished and greatly appreciated him as our father / grandpa / great-grandpa and the example of what a great man is. He will be missed and will forever live in our hearts. Frank will also be greatly missed by his many nieces and nephews and will always fill a special part of their hearts. All of us; Tom and Diana with Jackie (Paul and their children Brandon, Lily, and Clara) and Tom Jr., Harold and Maria with Jeffrey (Allison) and Andrew (Sarah), Les [predeceased Dec. 2008] and Debbie with Alan and Jessica, and Ron and Liz with Amanda (Brent) and Cameron are proud and honoured to say that not only was Frank a wonderful father / grandpa / great-grandpa but also a role model of a loving person who we all aspire to be like. Frank was predeceased by his parents Tom and Ivy Johnson and all his siblings; Leslie (Dorothy and Myrtle), Mary (Tom Connolly), Florence, and Harold. Additionally, Frank is predeceased by his in-laws Charles and Nellie Snelling with Lillian, Charles (Doris), Grace (Ed Pearce), Lois, William (Josephine), and Doug (Beatrice).

Frank had a full life with many friends between Hamilton and Howdenvale, where 55 years ago he began to build the family cottage retreat – so many memories for all of us. Along his journey he also befriended many co-workers throughout his 42-year career at Westinghouse. He enjoyed being with everyone and everyone always enjoyed being with Frank. Even though his shoe size was only 9 1/2 his footprint on all the lives he touched was enormous.

Unfortunately for Frank, life took a drastic turn (dementia). With that, the whole family would like to acknowledge and sincerely thank the staff of the Willowgrove Long Term Care Residence for their tremendous and very empathetic care of Frank over that last 3 years. Your efforts and compassion did not go unnoticed and we thank you all very much for inviting and accepting Frank into your Willowgrove family.

Visitation will be held at Bay Gardens Funeral Home – “William J. Markey Chapel” , 947 Rymal Road East, HAMILTON (905.574.0405) on Tuesday, October 23 from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at St. Stephen on the Mount, 625 Concession St. Hamilton on Wednesday, October 24 at 11:00 a.m.
