KITOWSKI, Violet (nee Anderson)

KITOWSKI, Violet (nee Anderson) With much sadness we announce the passing of our dear Mother, Violet.

Born over 93 years ago in Nova Scotia, Violet’s family returned to Scotland where she grew up in Auchtermuchty, Fife. In Scotland, she met and married Gerwazy (deceased), and together they raised two sons – Raymond (Terri) and Richard (Jocelyn). In the late sixties our family immigrated to Canada and began a new life in Hamilton. Family and friends were Mum’s delight, and she was proudest as the Grandma to Laura (Travis) and April (Chris), and a loving Great-Grandma to Sydney, Victoria, and Isla. They were truly the loves of her life.

Mum’s first job in Hamilton was at Robinson’s on James Street. She then moved to Zellers where she spent over 20 years before she retired from the store at Mohawk and Upper Sherman. A faithful member of Chalmers Presbyterian Church for over thirty years, she was also an active volunteer into her seventies with the Canadian Cancer Society and Sackville Hill Seniors’ Centre, and always loved the opportunity to help and interact with people.

In honour of Mum’s wishes, a private cremation will take place with her close family in attendance. A Memorial service is planned for 10:30 on January 19th at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 720 9th Ave. There will be a visitation time just prior to the service and a luncheon in the church hall to follow.

In lieu of flowers, a donation in her name to a charity meaningful to you, or to the Canadian Cancer Society, would be appreciated.
