PEARCE, MARIAN BONO On October 25, 2018, in her 92nd year, peacefully and surrounded by the love of her family, Marian Bono Pearce, beloved wife of the late Norman Pearce and of the late Jack Bono. Marian was the loving mother of Susan Wheelihan, David Pearce (Deanna) and Barbara McEwan (Jamie), dearly loved Nana of Kathleen (Paul), Michael (Caroline), Christopher (Julia), Cynthia (Warren), Stephen (Anne), Ian, Colin and Sarah and Great-Nana to Alice, Ryan, Claire, Jack, Fionn and Casper. She was the much-loved step-mother of Meri Lane McCarthy (Joseph), Bette Lynne Bono (Alex Knopp), Steven Bono, John Bono (Lucy) and Rosemary Bono and step-grandmother to Jessie, Andrew, Anthony, Grace, Jeffrey and Laura. Marian was also predeceased by her son-in-law, John Wheelihan.
Born in Skegby, Nottinghamshire, England, Marian was the youngest of 3 children. As a young girl, she moved with her family to Winchester, Hampshire, where they lived above the grocery on Greenhill Road that her father operated. She excelled in academics and sports and upon graduation from secretarial college worked for the Hampshire County Education Office. Like many young women in war-time England, Marian enjoyed going to local dances where she ultimately met her soulmate Norman. They were married in 1948 to the music of Handel and Bach. In 1952, they embarked on a life-changing journey, immigrated to Canada and settled in Milton – a community which they would call home for more than 40 years.
Marian worked as a medical secretary and was an active community volunteer. Her greatest and most treasured roles were as a wife, mother and mentor to her children. She built many lifetime friendships from her first years in Milton to recent years in the City of Burlington. Marian was an excellent golfer, astute bridge player, enthusiastic round dancer and willing camper. There are many happy memories of camping, travelling and celebrations with friends and family.
When Norman passed away in 1997, her tremendous strength carried her through some difficult days. With her marriage to Jack Bono, happiness would find her again and continued through his family. Marian’s thoughtful, loving and generous nature will be missed by her family and her many dear friends.

The family will receive visitors at J. Scott Early Funeral Home, 21 James St., Milton (905) 878-2669, on Monday October 29, 2018 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A private family funeral service will be held. The family welcomes you to join them on Tuesday, October 30, 2018 from 1-3 p.m. for a Celebration of Life reception at J. Scott Early Funeral Home.
