Marilyn Bernice (nee FREEMAN) MURPHY

Marilyn Bernice (nee FREEMAN) MURPHY

Marilyn Bernice MURPHY (nee FREEMAN) With heavy hearts, we announce that Marilyn Bernice Murphy (nee Freeman) passed away suddenly but peacefully on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 in her 84th year. Marilyn always put her children, Brian (Linda), Daniel, Kevin, Kathleen (David) and Patrick (Shawna), before all else.

She was happiest when her family was together, especially when gatherings included her beloved grandchildren Ryan, Patrick, Chase, Tessa, Aidan, Drew and Kieran. She was predeceased by her husband Eddie Murphy and her parents Colette and Ralph. She is survived by the kindest of sisters Lorraine, Joanne and Carol and her loving brother Ralph. Marilyn loved her brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and family members in her large extended Freeman/Murphy clan.

She was energized by her extensive volunteer work and the company of too many dear friends to mention, all of whom, along with her unwavering faith, were a tremendous source of strength as she battled cancer with her trademark grace, optimism and selflessness as evidenced by her favourite expression “I think the sun is trying to come out.” Marilyn never had an unkind word for anyone.

Visitation on Sunday, June 3rd from 2-5 p.m. at R.S. Kane Funeral Home, 6150 Yonge Street. Funeral Mass on Monday, June 4th at 10:30 a.m. at St. Margaret of Scotland Catholic Church, 222 Ridley Boulevard, Toronto.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Marilyn’s memory to the Freeman Centre for the Advancement of Palliative Care at NYGH or the Grandmother’s to Grandmother’s Campaign of the Stephen Lewis Foundation or Toronto Catholic Charities. Condolences may be made at www.rskane.ca
