MOHAMED HIYATE

HIYATE, MOHAMED October 1, 1940 – December 19, 2018 Born into humble circumstances with his seven siblings in West Coast Demerara, Guyana, Mohamed was a supportive and devoted father and husband. Through perseverance, he put himself through school while working on a sugar estate. His mechanical engineering qualifications allowed him to come to Canada, enjoy a career at McDonnell Douglas, raise and educate his family and sponsor extended family, thereby establishing a community in the GTA. He enjoyed a healthy retirement but was recently overcome by a virulent and mysterious chest infection at the age of 78. He will be greatly missed by his loving wife, children Sam, Naz (Christine), Wasela and Alisha (Jake), grandchild James and the community he founded.
