Yolande Burgess

Yolande Burgess

Mr. Rogers famously said he was always comforted by something his mother would tell him during times of crisis: “Look for the helpers. You can always find people who are helping.” Family and friends of Yolande Burgess never had to look for the helpers. They had one in her.

When someone was in need, she didn’t waver. She gave time, money, advice, comfort, support, prayers. She gave herself in dedicated service to her parish community at Our Lady of The Assumption, of which she was an active member for 40 years. She passed away unexpectedly on Friday, January 29, 2021 at the age of 66. By all who knew and loved her — daughter, son, granddaughters, siblings, in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends — she will be fondly remembered. For the smile that reached her eyes, her fabulous fashion sense, the details she remembered (and those she forgot), and the way she loved with every fiber of her being.

Visitation at SMITH’S FUNERAL HOME, 454 Highway #8, STONEY CREEK (905-664-4222) on Sunday, February 7, 2021 from 3-9 p.m. Vigil prayers at 4:30 p.m. In accordance with provincial regulations, there is a limit to the number of visitors who may attend the funeral home at one time.
