AdamoTonelli

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Adamo Tonelli on February 20, 2017 at Toronto Grace Health Centre, at the age of 91.

Left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife Anna, daughters Marilea and Rita, son-in-laws Gino Naldini and Frank Giannone, and grandsons Alessandro, Julian and Christian.

Adamo grew up in Casalbordino, Italy, one of eight children born to Domenica and Minichetta Tonelli. He made the voyage to Canada in 1958, with his wife and daughter, and the proverbial suitcase in tow. He worked tirelessly to build a life for his family in his new country. Construction was his first calling, leaving a mark on job sites throughout the Toronto area. Later, he would become a fiercely proud employee of the Toronto Transit Commission, where he worked maintaining the subway platforms, before retiring in 1992. Adamo loved spending time on his impressive vegetable garden, and backyard fruit trees, winemaking, and tinkering in his garage. Best of all he enjoyed marathon family dinners on Sunday afternoons, thanks to his wife Anna’s superior skills in the kitchen. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

The family extends a special thanks to the palliative care staff at Toronto Grace for their exceptional care and compassion during Adamo’s final days.
