ALANIDRIS DAVIES

DAVIES, ALAN IDRIS Was born March 31, 1941 in Tir-Y-Berth, a small mining town in South Wales, UK. After a period of time living in Yorkshire, England, his family returned to Wales where Al completed his education with an HNC in chemistry. After the death of his father, he immigrated to Canada to join his schoolboy friend, followed eventually by his sister Pat and mother Olive. He worked in the lab in Mobil Oil (Paint Div) Canada as a Chemist in purchasing, then on to many different positions in Mobil and subsequently Valspar Paint as Tech Support in Saudi Arabia and Argentina until his final posting in Tech Service at Steel Car in Hamilton. He had a love of life, intelligence and humour, not to mention rugby, snooker and golf. He is survived by his sister Pat, who returned to Wales after their mother died. He will be remembered fondly by his lifelong friend Brian Plummer, wife Judy and daughters Sarah and Amanda and his lifelong friend Ag and Andy Dougan and Nancy Goldsmith who took care of him tirelessly for the last year of his life, as well as many others. He succumbed to prostate cancer long after he was expected to under the fine care of the nurses, doctor and chaplain at Providence Healthcare Centre on Saturday, September 16, 2017. He will be missed. Information about a memorial celebration will follow.
