HOUWER, Albert Called home to be with his Lord and Saviour on Friday, July 28, 2017 in his 91st year (Aug. 15). Devoted husband of the late Alberta (Betty 2014) for 62 years. Much loved father of Jerry and Barb, Clarence and Michelle, Ed and Margaret, Aileen and Jake Dekkers, Sylvia and Gord Veldstra, Joanne and Wayne DeBoer. He was adored and proud of his 23 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren….and counting. Special brother-in-law to Helen and Gary Mans. Predeceased by daughter-in-law Marilyn (1996), and grandchildren Ken (1995), Jennifer Kadwell Houwer (2012). Survived by sister/brother-in-laws in The Netherlands, and many nieces and nephews. Dad lived his life by example, loving his Lord, family, and serving his church and helping those in need. He fulfilled his dream of owning a farm and passed that love of faith and farming to the 3rd generation. Many thanks to the staff at Shalom Manor and Gardens, Grimsby, ON, for the compassionate and excellent care given to our Dad over the last few years of his life. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2-4 and 7:30 – 9 p.m. at the Maranatha Chr. Ref. Church in York. Following a graveside interment service at St. John’s Anglican Church Cemetery, a service of celebration of life will be held on Monday at 11:00 am at the church.
