ALFRED NELSON HILL Alfred Nelson Hill passed suddenly from a heart attack in his 91st year to be with his Lord and Saviour, on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at Markham Stouffville Hospital. He is survived by Marjorie, his loving wife of 47 years, his special daughter, Anne (spouse John Tompkins) and his dear grandchildren, Jenn and Dave (fiancée Kait Jonsgma). Alf grew up in Toronto and started teaching in 1944 in a one-room school at age 18. He retired as a Principal from the Toronto School Board over 30 years later. Alf was a man of many interests and talents including reading, carpentry, building, stain glass, tennis and softball. He loved his Muskoka cottage, Florida home and telling stories about teaching. A celebration will be held Monday, July 4, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Chapel Ridge Funeral Home, 8911 Woodbine Ave., Markham, ON. A light reception will follow and then Alf will be interred in Mount Pleasant Cemetery at 2 p.m. Donations in Alf’s memory can be made to St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, 143 Main St. N., Markham, ON
