83 years young. Loving Husband to Donna. Father to Rick (Janice), Tod, Patrick (Robin) and Grandad to Taylor, Jessica, Richard, Jacob and Tod Jr. Brother to Dickie and friend to many. Born in St. Catharines, ON, a child of the Depression, he successfully learned to keep his head up and his stick down and to sink or swim in the Welland Canal. Entering post graduate studies in the School of hard knocks, playing junior hockey in Niagara Falls, St. Catharines and East York. He rose early and “delivered the goods” as a milkman and as a circulation manager at the St. Catharines Standard. In 1952 he joined his father’s Toronto firm, The Globe Bureau of Investigation. Their work involved several front page divorce cases, The Ontario Crime probe, Psychiatrists of ill repute and more. In 1958 he left stakeouts for sales, joining CBM and later Premier Concrete where he managed the Ontario market place, retiring as President. A longtime resident of Mississauga and member at Credit Valley Golf and Country Club, his love of sports, community service and helping young athletes reach their potential, including the NHL as a coach, mentor and sponsor for many hockey, lacrosse and football teams. He was a co-founder of the Mississauga Football League. His competitive spirit and skill set was also put to good use in the S. Peel Progressive Conservative Association and within municipal, provincial, federal and even Bahamian political campaigns. His lust for life, respect and initiative to help others, friendships and appreciation for God’s grace are his most valued and shared legacies. Family and friends may call at the Turner & Porter “Neweduk” Chapel, 1981 Dundas Street West, Mississauga (E. of Erin Mills Pkwy.), on Wednesday, June 14th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held in the Chapel on Thursday, June 15, 2017 at 3 p.m. Reception to follow.
