Anna Victoria (Vicki) MacDONALD
MacDONALD, Anna Victoria (Vicki) Vicki died peacefully on April 21, 2017 at St. Peter’s Hospital at the age of 84 years. Beloved wife of the late Ronald P. MacDonald who died in 2011, her lifelong friend and anchor. Loving mother of Debbie Klein, Sharon MacDonald, Kelly MacDonald, and Stephanie Mancini (Joe). Grandmother to Adam, Neal and Ryan (deceased) Klein; Brock (Lisa) and Kathleen Kennedy; Brendon and Alex Bigelli; and Christina, Rebecca and Thomas Mancini. Vicki’s siblings include Velma DiFrancesco, Myrna Norris, Dolla Phillips, Basil Gouthro, Michael Gouthro, John Gouthro (deceased) and Raymond Gouthro (deceased). Vicki has enjoyed an expansive family that includes many other sisters, brothers, in-laws, nieces and nephews, and this family has been part of a rich tradition of visits, celebrations, and gatherings. Born in Sampsonville, Nova Scotia, Vicki came to Ontario in the early 1950’s where she met Ron; they started their life together on September 5, 1953. A spirited woman, she loved to dance, to enjoy the company of her family and friends, and together she and Ron committed to the building of church and family. As she raised her children, Vicki determinedly took correspondence courses to complete high school, then went to University and Teacher’s College. She proudly graduated with her BA. Teaching became her vocation – she especially enjoyed her work in Special Education, helping young people who faced challenges in learning and life. She was a painter, a determined pianist, a gardener, and a lifelong learner. She attracted many loyal friends. In the last year she enjoyed the dear friendship of Jack Van Nynatten. Vicki journeyed through the last five months with determination and grace. We are grateful for the many people who supported her care and journey over this time. She ended life as a tiny slip of a woman, but with a fierce determination to live life fully. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at P.X. Dermody Funeral Home , 796 Upper Gage Ave., on Sunday, April 30 from 2-4 p.m. and 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., with prayers and tribute at 7:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be offered at Annunciation of Our Lord Parish on Monday, May 1 at 1:00 p.m. Burial to take place at Resurrection Cemetery.
