ANNEJUDITH (MacDONALD) BURGESS

ANNE JUDITH BURGESS (née MacDONALD) Born in Hamilton, Ontario, died peacefully and on her own terms on May 23, 2017 in her 81st year. Anne was the dear mother of Paul Burgess and wife Janet, Sheena Bromstein and Christine Thomasson; caring step-mother and friend of Carol Roozenboom and Allen Burgess and loving grandmother of Brent Roozenboom and Cameron Viner. Anne was known for her work with: Anti-Apartheid, Pro-Choice, Anti-Nuke, the L.I.F.E. program in social housing, the Confederation of Canadian Unions (CCU) and was an active tenant representative in social housing on many committees. Anne was both respected and feared by City Hall, anti-union bosses and Toronto Housing executives. Memorial gathering will be held at 250 Davenport Road in the Recreation Room on Wednesday, June 7th from 12 noon – 3 p.m. Donations in Anne’s memory to the Toronto Humane Society would be appreciated by her family.
