BERENICESOLINAS

BERENICE SOLINAS June 14, 1931 to September 4, 2016 We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our beloved mother and nonna, Berenice Solinas (nee: DiVincenzo), on Sunday, September 4, 2016. Devoted wife of 31 years to the late Carlo Solinas and loving mother to Maria DiBello (Marco) and Leonardo; dear sister of Maria and sister-in-law Ida. She will be sorely missed by the sunshines of her life: her two grandsons, Alexander and Lucas. Berenice is reunited in Heaven with her mother Ida and father Antonio, her husband Carlo, brother Paolo DiVincenzo sisters Amelia and Elvira and brother-in-law Antonio D’Amico. She was the greatest mother and grandmother anyone could ever have asked for and we will never forget all the fond memories. Berenice always put the needs of others before and above her own. She was a homemaker for the majority of her life. After her children had grown, she decided to work part time as a Custodian for the Peel District School Board. She loved cooking for her family with the majority of the meals being made from scratch. No restaurant could compare to Nonna Berenice’s restaurant! She was always the last one to be seated at a meal as she ensured that each person was served before she was. She loved teaching her grandchildren how to make some of their favourite dishes: homemade gnocchi, pizza and lasagna, going to church, singing to her children/grandchildren and preparing unparalleled feasts for her family. Her life was dedicated to her family. Visitation will be at the Glendale Funeral Home and Cemetery, 1810 Albion Road, Etobicoke, on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of the Airways Parish, 7411 Darcel Avenue, Mississauga, ON, on Thursday, September 8, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. with Entombment to follow at Glendale Memorial Gardens.
