Catherine PEAD
PEAD, Catherine Catherine Pead, 89, born of strong and proud Irish-Scottish heritage on February 11, 1928 in Glasgow, Scotland to Hugh and Annie (nee Burke) McInally, died peacefully on August 26, 2017 with her family by her side in Hamilton, Ontario. Cathie married James Martin Pead on August 22, 1947. In 1969, together with two of their three children, they immigrated to Canada. Initially taking up residence on Stinson Street in Hamilton, they ultimately settled on Seneca Drive in Ancaster. Family was the centre of Cathie’s life. Through her drive, determination, and hard work Cathie ensured a better life for her children and grandchildren. Her kindness and generosity meant that all felt welcome in her home and at her table. Cathie was a straight-talking woman who was never afraid to give her honest opinion. She loved to knit and read – she was hardly ever caught without either knitting needles or a book in her hands. Cathie is survived by her three children: Ann Szpindor (Stanley), James Martin Pead (Marsha), Catherine Mary Pead (Robert); eight grandchildren: Karen (Michael), Andrea (James), Ian (Jennifer), Heather (John), Stephanie (Steven), Katie (Christopher), Rebecca (Terrance), Sean (Samantha) and 16 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brother Hugh McInally and her husband, James Martin Pead. Visitation at P.X.
