CathyBee ROBART

ROBART, Cathy Bee Our mom was born in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia on August 9, 1944 during a cracking good thunderstorm, without a doctor in sight. She often blamed this dramatic start for her ‘triple A’ personality, always thinking, always doing, always on the edge of something; and why she was super-attuned to the world and the people around her. The first image she remembered was a large black and white rendering of Jesus Christ hanging on the wall, at the foot of her bed; eyes looking rapturously skyward, one hand over his sacred heart, showing the marks left by the cross. She said that as a child growing up in a tumultuous home, the picture gave her comfort and influenced her idea of who she wanted to be – a warm, empathetic person who people naturally gravitated to for guidance and comfort. Always looking up. She didn’t much care about what she did for a living and wouldn’t need me to write it here. What she would be proud to share is that she raised three children on her own while working three jobs and still found time to jump in puddles with us during rainstorms. That she mined the gold out of every moment of joy in her life. That she was silly and fun-loving. That she met tragedy with strength and humour. That she took in strays of all species because she couldn’t bear to see suffering. That her smile drew you in and warmed you. And, of course, that she loved music and was unable to sit still when it moved her, as it often did. She danced as if she were channeling all the joy and suffering of the world into her little 5 foot body. She will be missed by those crushed by her passing, including her three daughters, Cheri, Lisa and Denise; her grandchildren, Allie and Jacob; her siblings, Donald, Doris, Bobbi and Sharon; her nieces, nephews and their children; as well as her many friends. Family and friends are all welcome to join with the family in a Celebration of Cathy’s life at MOUNT LAWN FUNERAL HOME, 21 Garrard Rd., Whitby (N. of Hwy. 2), 905-443-3376, on Thursday, July 6, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. until time of Remembrance in our chapel at 10:45 a.m. Interment of Cathy’s cremated remains to take place at Mount Lawn Cemetery.
