MAGGIO, Charles John (Veteran WWII) February 5, 1923 – January 24, 2017 With great sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved father, Charlie Maggio, surrounded by his family at Hardy Terrace. Beloved husband of the late Antonietta (1995). Cherished father of Robert (Frances) of Burlington, Barbara Eltom (Donald) of Woodstock, Angela Taylor (Harold) and Patricia Gilbertson (Dale) both of Hagersville. Proud papa/grandpa of Jason (Jenn), Damian (Janet), Roberta Maggio, Paul (Mandy), Lesley (Mike), Mark (Kelda), David Eltom, Wade (Kelly), Chuck (Ally) Taylor, and Brooke (Brent) Porter, Luke (Rachel), Tyler (Becca) Gilbertson. Great-grandfather of fourteen. Brother of the late Frank (Sylvia), John (Dorothy), Lawrence (Rae) Maggio, Nobla (Dave) Fischer, and Mary (Emile) Cote. Brother-in-law of Jean (late Nat) Salvatore, Florence (late Samuel) Salvatore, Joan (Pasquale) Catabbo, and the late Mary (Gerry) Leduc, Joe (Yvette) Salvatore, Anthony (Josephine) Salvatore. He will also be sadly missed by his special friend Linda. Survived by several nieces and nephews. He was devoted to his entire family, a gentleman and kind soul, well-known for his sense of humour. He had a love of cards, desserts, sports, and horse racing. The family will honour his life with visitation at the Hyde & Mott Chapel of R.H.B. Anderson Funeral Homes Ltd., 60 Main St. S., Hagersville on Thursday 7-9 p.m. and on Friday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. (Legion visitation 6:15 p.m. Friday, followed by Community Prayers at 6:30 p.m.) Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 94 Main St. S., Hagersville at 10 a.m. on Saturday, January 28, 2017. Interment St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Caledonia. As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to the West Haldimand General Hospital Foundation, Heart & Stroke Foundation or the charity of your choice.
