Chester(Czeslaw) DUDA

DUDA, Chester (Czeslaw) Died peacefully surrounded by his family on July 30, 2017 at St. Peter’s Hospital. Chester is survived by his wife, Tillie of 66 years, sons Joseph (Lesley), Ron (Natalie), and daughter, Janice Duda-Kosar (Bob). Proud and loving dziadzia to Stephanie (Rob) and Natalie Rose. Step-grandfather to Quinn, Chelsea (Costine), Liam, China and David. Pra-dziadzia to his precious Bryn Doyle. Also survived by his twin brother Kazik and many nieces and nephews in Canada and Poland. Chester is preceded in death by his parents, Piotr and Katarzyna Duda, 11 brothers and sisters and daughter-in-law Jennie. Chester was born on March 1, 1925 in Poznan, Poland. In 1947 he immigrated to Canada. Eventually he settled in Hamilton where he met and married Tillie. Together, these two remarkable people set their sites on working hard and having a family. Chester was employed at Stelco for three years before making his way to Dofasco where he worked for 38 years. He was a handyman, a gardener, a harmonica player, an avid walker, a good neighbour, friend, and he loved to polka. Above all, family was most important to Chester. That will be his legacy. How fortunate we have been to have Chester in our lives as long as we have. A man of faith and integrity he taught us all the important lessons in life to be kind, to be honest, to work hard and to ease the suffering of others. Our sincere thanks to the Palliative Care Unit team at St. Peter’s Hospital for their outstanding care of Chester and our family. Visitation will be held at P.X.
