McFADDEN, David —

David McFadden passed away peacefully at age 59 in the early hours of Saturday at Ian Anderson House in Oakville. By his side, as she was each and every one of 33 years as his wife and best friend, was Debra. Their children, Tyler and Darby, were with their father every step of the way after learning barely a month before Dave had liver cancer. Dave was born in St. Joe’s Hospital, a fact he never failed to mention, when he drove by the west end Toronto Health Centre. The greatest hospital in the world he would say. Simply because it laid claim to him. David was the youngest of Donna and Barrie (BL) McFadden’s three children. He grew up in Mississauga with a great sense of humour, joy for life and love of all things with engines, however big or small, that could take him from A to B – cars, motorcycles, boats, snowmobiles. He was the kid in high school who had a car before anyone else. He was also the kid who excelled in athletics – an accomplished runner who competed at the highest provincial levels in distance events. Dave played hockey, football, baseball and softball and would become a dedicated girls fastball coach. Dave was looking forward to another season at the cottage on Buckhorn Lake, his newest passion. Dave was a great friend to a great many people. He was someone you wanted to be around and he is someone who will be missed dearly. David is survived by Debra, Tyler, Darby, mother Donna, sister Wendy and husband Steve Toma, sister Bonnie, nieces Brianne and Michelle, nephews Matt and Paul, in-laws John and Lois Toma, sister-in-law Sandra and husband Jeff Bingeman and lifelong friend Steve Dryden. A visitation will be held at Glen Oaks Funeral Home, 3164 Ninth Line, Oakville, 905-257-8822, on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 p.m. The memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 1, 2017 at 11 a.m. in the Glen Oaks Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the McFadden family would appreciate donations to Ian Anderson House (ianandersonhouse.com). Online condolences can be made through www.glenoaks.ca
