EdithWALKER (GIBBS) (nee Hubard)

WALKER (GIBBS), Edith (nee Hubard) 1921 – 2017 After living life to the fullest, always wearing a smile, and happiest in the company of family, Edith’s prayers were answered on Monday, July 31, 2017, when the Lord called her home, from Tansley Woods LTC. Edith never forgot her childhood and she didn’t let her dementia get in the way of her fondest memories. Born to loving parents the late Edie and Willie Hubard in Hamilton, and always grateful to have siblings (Bessie, Rosa and Eric), (Flo and Pat Hoadley), who have all predeceased her. Edith worked at the Westinghouse Plant and National Hosiery, before working alongside her husband Roy Gibbs for Jewel Products. Roy passed away in 1968, and Edith started to work as a cashier for Dominion Stores. There she met Stan Walker, and family was blessed with another great guy. Edith was also predeceased by her husband Stan. Edith will be missed by her children Gail (Jerry) Graham, Don (Val) Gibbs, Doug (Kathie) Gibbs, Bill (Bev) Walker. Grandma DeeDee to 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, who will also miss DeeDee’s happy, care-free nature, big hugs and kisses, sharp wit and love of life, laughter and chocolate, music, dance, cheerleading, sewing, shopping, laundering, and wanting to travel anywhere, anytime. Edith will also be missed at the P.G.H.H. family picnics, and by the Gibbs families in British Columbia. Special thanks to our Mom’s caregivers at Oakville Trafalgar, Dr. Chris at Tansley Woods, the nurses, entire staff, and PSWs on Brant, our chaplains Richard and Kim, and Rev. Allan Warren from Appleby United, who treated us like family.
