EgartFRIEDRICH

FRIEDRICH, Egart It was with heavy hearts my sister and I said goodbye to our father on August 26, 2017, holding his strong hands, hands that worked hard to give us every opportunity in life. Dad was born in the Ukraine on February 24, 1930 and during the war, his mother, sister and he finally settled in Germany. Before the German Wall became permanent, Dad came by ship to Canada, landing in Halifax in 1952. He travelled to Alberta to work on the railroad for a year and a half before moving to Ontario. There he met and married the love of his life, Bridget Teresa O’Gorman, a mere slip of a girl, in 1960. I came along in 1962, followed by my sister in 1963. Dad worked hard, both at his own business, Ed’s Glass & Mirrors and on our ten acre farm. Our parents divorced in the 80s, but remained friends, eventually living in the same retirement home. Left behind with wonderful memories are myself, Carolyn Friedrich and husband Murray Williams and my sister Sandy Friedrich and her husband Jim Dunn. He was the proud Opa to Sandy and Jim’s boys Keenan and Devin Dunn. He will be greatly missed by his friends and especially his family in Germany, Petra, Dietmar, Sebastian and Cristin and Klaus, Gitta, Erik and Maria and Justus and Maria. We wish him peace.
