Elda Maria FREDETTE
After a courageous battle, Elda passed away on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at the age of 70 at the Post Inn Village Long Term Care home surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by her husband of 44 years, André Fredette, daughter Gabrielle, son Marc, sisters Anna and Palmerina, brother Alfonse and grandson Luke Warcop. Elda was born in Cantalupo nel Sannio, Italy. She arrived in Canada at the age of 5 with her parents Nicola and Pasqua Monaco. Elda received her Masters of Education degree from McGill University and taught both French and worked as a Special Educational Resource Teacher and Guidance Counsellor. Elda taught for 25 years at the following schools of the Halton Catholic Board: Mother Theresa, St. James, St. Michael’s, St. Raphael’s and St. Vincent. Elda was a gentle spirit who was loved both by her family, working colleagues, students and friends. She will be greatly missed by all. The family will receive friends at the GLEN OAKS FUNERAL HOME & CEMETERY, 3164 Ninth Line, Oakville, 905-257-3158 on Tuesday, October 25 and Wednesday, October 26 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at Mary Mother of God Parish, 2745 North Ridge Trail, Oakville on Thursday, October 27 at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Glen Oaks Funeral Home & Cemetery. If so desired, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Alzheimer Society or Acclaim Health.
