PRINZ, Elisabeth “Betty” —
Passed away peacefully at Trillium Health Partners Mississauga, August 12, 2016 in her 84th year, with her beloved husband Martin of 53 years by her side. Loving mother of Karen (Christopher) and step-grandmother of Daniel and Alan. She will be especially missed by her “lapdog” Ozzie. Predeceased by her parents Jacob and Yke Smit and brothers and sisters, Adriana, Kees, Jan, Piet, Jake, Sam, Joan, Connie, Audrey, Margaret and Tine. Will be dearly missed by her many, many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Despite many health challenges, Betty enjoyed life to the fullest. In particular, The Streetsville lunch bunch, Italian Express morning cappuccino and of course having a pina colada on the beach in Barbados watching the sun set. Born in The Netherlands, immigrated to Canada at the age of 21, she had always cherished those first years in Canada and the good times and friendships made at the University Settlement. Betty diligently worked for the United Church of Canada for 27 years. Most of all, she lived for her family, her great big family, they were her heart. Friends will be received at THE SIMPLE ALTERNATIVE FUNERAL CENTRE, 1535 South Gateway Rd., Mississauga (Dixie Rd., 2 lights south of Eglinton Ave., 905-602-1580) on Friday, August 19, 2016 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and Saturday, August 20, 2016 from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Cremation to follow.
