ANTHONY, Elizabeth Ellen Stewart (nee Dickson) —
April 4, 1931 – August 22, 2016
Elizabeth passed away peacefully after a brief illness. Born in Fredericton, NB, she graduated from nursing school and headed west to start her career at Sick Kids. That career turned out to be a 42 year love of nursing. Most of her career was spent in the maternity ward at York Central Hospital. A gentle, kind and loving person, Elizabeth loved her garden and the Toronto Blue Jays. She travelled globally attending operas and vacationing. She valued her family, friends and her community. In retirement, she volunteered at North York Seniors Centre in any way possible. Her seven grandchildren will miss her famous chocolate cake; a favourite at most family get togethers. The Anthonys thank the outstanding team that cared for her at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. Elizabeth is survived by her children Malcolm Anthony (Robin), Leighton Anthony, Marilyn Anthony (Doug); grandchildren Evan, Heather, Kara, Tristan, Gabriel, Sloan and Reid and her sister Jane Wasson (Dana). She is predeceased by her husband Darryl, brother Len Dickson and sister Daphne Styles. Visitation will be held at the R.S. Kane Funeral Home, 6150 Yonge St. (at Goulding, south of Steeles) on Saturday, August 27, 2016 from 11:30 a.m. until the time of service at 1:30 p.m. As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
