EVELYN PAUL (McCLELLAND, WISE) January 3, 1926 – June 5, 2017 Evelyn lived her 91 years with grace and died naturally on her own terms. Predeceased by her husband Spencer Wise (d. 1972); son Richard Wise (d. 1998); daughter Cathy Wise (d. 2011); husband Fred Paul (d. 2011); and six of her eight McClelland brothers. She is survived by her daughter Joanne Wise; sister Rhoda McClelland; brothers Len and Howard; Fred’s son Ian; eight grandchildren – Andrew Wise, Sarah Paul, Jennifer Paul, Michelle Colangelo, Beth Wise- Stewart, Wendy Scandlan, Eric Scandlan and April Walsh; and eight great-grandchildren. Evelyn came of age in St. Catharines, ON, raised her family in Hamilton and lived her later years in Burlington. She was a dedicated homemaker who enjoyed gardening, sewing, an hour at the organ after supper and non- competitive bridge. She adopted golf with good cheer. Cancer caught her by surprise in midlife and cast a persistent shadow. At 81 she moved to Hampton Terrace Care Centre – challenged but never defeated by a form of dementia. She faced her losses with quiet dignity and knew more than she could say with words. Her smile could melt snow. A celebration of Evelyn’s life is being planned.
