William (Bill) HOMENIUK
HOMENIUK, William (Bill) It is with sad hearts that the family of Bill announces his peaceful and comfortable passing at the Pine Villa Nursing Home on July 9, 2016. He lived a full and rewarding life for almost 91 years. Bill was predeceased by his wife Alfreda (2015) who passed away a short 10 months earlier. They would have celebrated their 66th Anniversary in November. “You are together again.” Bill was born in Sydney, NS in 1925 where Tony Homenick a last of 5 brothers still lives with his wife Pauline. Their daughter Kelly truly loved uncle Bill. Thank you Kelly. Tony and Pauline you have the videos and pictures from your lovely visit with Bill. Dearly missing him, is his sister Kaye Francuz (John deceased) who faithfully visited Bill and always brought him his favourite treat, “chocolates”. Bill was predeceased by his three brothers Steven, Peter, John, and sisters-in-law Rose and Rita. Also predeceased by his sister Ann and brother-in-law Michael. Survived by sisters-in-law Patsy, Annie (Terry deceased), Ollie (Jim deceased), Evelyn (John deceased); brothers-in-law Bill and Ralph (Sarah deceased). They will have their fond memories of Bill. There are also numerous nieces and nephews. A very special thank you to niece Maryanne who cared for and helped Freda and Bill to remain in their home. They appreciated and loved you for it. Bill was a gentle, quiet and talented man who loved to sing, dance and play his ukulele. He joined a senior group as soon as he retired at 65. He was hooked. The group put on skits for many nursing homes (Bill being the main act). Bill wore elaborate costumes such as a cow, pirate, Scotsman, Santa etc. He loved to play his ukulele which was a beautiful piece of art. His brother Tony is now playing it. “You now can play, sing and dance for the angels Bill.” Bill was in the Pine Villa nursing home for 18 months but he left a wonderful memory for the staff there. He always smiled, never said a cross word and never, never complained; an ideal resident. The staff just loved him and called him “Prince William”, “Big Bill”, and “Smiley”. Thanks Pine Villa for your compassion, wonderful care and respect you showed Bill, not just during his passing, but the whole time he was in your care. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at Cresmount Funeral Home, 1020 Upper James St., Hamilton at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 17, 2016. In lieu of flowers or donations a kind act or smile in honour of Bill would be appreciated. xxx I love you, be a good boy, Ollie.
