Isobel STARK

(nee BLAIR)

1930 – 2016

After a brief and courageous encounter with cancer, Isobel departed this life on Saturday, July 9, 2016. Isobel was diagnosed with the disease only a few short weeks ago. It was a shock to her family and to her many friends. Isobel is survived by her husband of almost 60 years, Bill and by her loving sons Neil and Bill Jr., and daughter-in-law Yiren. She was predeceased by her son Ian. Isobel was until recently a very healthy and active lady and was playing tennis and badminton until early May of this year. She was one of the original members of the Ontario Racquet Club and for the last forty years has been a very active member of the Whiteoaks Tennis Club in Mississauga. She also played at the Christ Church Badminton Club where she also had many friends. In 1998 Mayor Hazel McCallion presented Isobel with an award recognizing her contribution to community sport in Mississauga. Isobel was a Registered Nurse in Scotland and came to Canada immediately after her marriage to Bill in 1956. Since Bill’s retirement they have travelled the world and Isobel often said she had a wonderful life. She faced her ultimate departure with dignity and no regrets. Isobel was looked after during the last few weeks by the doctors, nurses and staff of the Mississauga Hospital (Trillium). Thanks also to Dr. Zheng of the palliative care unit. Friends may call at the Turner & Porter “Peel” Chapel, 2180 Hurontario St., Hwy. 10, N. of QEW on Thursday, July 14, 2016 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. If desired, donations to the Trillium Health Partners Foundation, www.trilliumgiving.ca or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
