Ivan (John) BRKLJE
BRKLJE, Ivan (John) It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Ivan (John) Brklje on June 27, 2017 at the age of 79. Survived by his loving wife of 58 years Dragica (Jarnevich), his son John Jr, daughter Diana Ciglar (Tony), and granddaughter Chelsea. Predeceased by his parents Ivan Brklje and Katica Brklje-Feher. Also, survived by his brother Mike Brklje (Mary), and many nieces, nephew, cousins and relatives in Croatia and Canada. John was a retiree of Dofasco after 41 years of dedicated service. He was a long time member of CFU Lodge 644 and the Croatian National Home bowling league. He was a true outdoorsman having spent the majority of his life camping and fishing. He loved history and mechanics and was an expert at both. The family would like to express an extra special note of appreciation for all the family and friends who showed their love and supported him throughout his journey. Also, a special thank you to Dr. Mayer and the nurses and doctors at St. Joseph’s Hospital for their care and compassion. Visitation at MARKEY-DERMODY FUNERAL HOME , 1774 King Street East (at Kenilworth) on Sunday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. with Rosary at 7:15 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Cross Croatian Catholic Church, 1883 King Street East, on Monday, July 3, 2017 at 9:30 a.m. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
