CONNOLLY, JAMES EARL Jim passed away peacefully at his home in Toronto surrounded by his family on Friday, June 16, 2017. Devoted husband of 45 years to the late Frances. Loving father of Carol, Sandy (Joe), Jim (Heather) and Jennifer (Ric). Proud grandfather to Tara (John), Jonathan, Candace, Kevin (Kristy), Devin and great-grandfather to Cohen and Nathan. Jim was born in Toronto on December 4, 1926 to Jack and Mabel Connolly. Survived by his brother Bob (the late Gladys) and sister-in-law Flo Connolly. Jim was predeceased by his brother Jack, sisters and brothers-in-law Margaret Flaherty (Jim), Vi Bletsoe (Ross) and Kay Turner (Al). Jim was a longtime Eaton’s employee retiring in 1991 as the Central Shipping Manager. His strong work ethic and dedication to his job was always apparent. He had a passion for hockey and was very proud to have worked for Maple Leaf Gardens as the Toronto Penalty Keeper for many years. When asked what he did, he would always say “I let the bad guys in and the good guys out.” He loved to spend the summers at his trailer in Victoria Park. Jim was known for his sense of humour, generous spirit, determination and willingness to help. He made many close friends in Cobourg who were very special to him. Missed by many nieces, nephews and friends. Your presence will be missed; your memory will be treasured. Loving you always and forgetting you never! The family will receive friends at the HOLY CROSS CATHOLIC FUNERAL HOME, 211 Langstaff Rd. E. (west of Bayview Ave.), on Friday, June 23rd from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 p.m. Funeral Mass on Saturday, June 24th, 10 a.m. at St. Margaret’s Church (222 Ridley Blvd., Toronto). Our family would like to thank Dr. Hal Berman, the palliative team and the many wonderful caregivers for their help and support.
