JAMES ANTHONY MURPHY

Suddenly, on May 13, 2017 at Scarborough Centenary Hospital. Loving husband to his wife of 63 years, Teresa. Adored Dad to Brian and wife Danielle, Maureen, and Barry and wife Ginny and loving Poppa to grandchildren Alex and Scott. Revered uncle to Liz, Marie and Tom in Canada, as well as many nieces and nephews in Ireland and England. Predeceased by brothers Joe and Matthew, and sisters Carmel, Kay, Maisie, Lilly and Evelyn. Jim emigrated from Ireland to Canada in 1952 and immediately started a new life with gusto and an unwavering dedication to building a new life in Canada. Jim embraced life and all it had to offer and enjoyed golf, hockey, the movies and time with family and friends, telling jokes and entertaining a crowd with a booming rendition of Danny Boy or the Fields of Athenry. He was always on everybody’s list of “good people”… a man who literally had no enemies in all the world. There is a line in The Wizard of Oz, just before the Wizard gives the Tin Man his reward: “A heart is not judged by how much YOU love, but by how much YOU are loved by others.” Jim Murphy, there is absolutely no question about how your heart will be judged.

In lieu of flowers, donations are kindly encouraged to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
