BALFOUR, Jane Ellen (nee LACKIE) February 17, 1940 – September 13, 2017 It is with unbearable sadness that we announce that our beloved Jane Ellen passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, at the QEII Hospital in Halifax, on Wednesday, September 13th. Her loving husband Mac and her devoted children, Scott (Stella), Brenda (Barbara Birch) and Shari (Mark Selva) and her proud sister, Mary Lou (Doug) Morris were with Janie as she passed, letting her know how much she was loved. She also leaves behind her brother, Thomas Lackie, father of Leandra and Drew; Mary Lou and Doug’s children, Shelley and James (Colleen); special sister-in-law, Betty Gladman, mother of Brett and Brad; as well as many other dear family and friends. Her eight amazing grandchildren have learned infinite lessons about love and kindness from their very special Nana. Sean, Michael, Nicholas (Scott and Stella); Zoë, Gavin and Gracie (Brenda and Barbara); and Abby and Cooper (Shari and Mark) will miss her terribly, especially after making endless wonderful memories together at the summer cottage. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, September 19th from 7 – 9 p.m. and the Memorial will take place on Wednesday, September 20th at 11 a.m. at Maple Grove United Church, in Oakville.
