JEANNEUERT

JEAN NEUERT July 9, 1932 – July 6, 2016 With sad hearts we announce the passing of Naomi Anna Jean Neuert (Parker) on July 6, 2016, surrounded by her family, just 3 days before her 84th birthday. Jean was an extraordinary wife, mother, sister, aunt, nana, grandnana, friend and nurse. Jean is remembered by the love of her life and husband of 62 years, John Ellwood and her four children, Hawley Shields (John), Elizabeth McKitrick (Patrick), Leslie Olsen (Gary) and Jon Neuert (Shirley). Treasured Nana to grandchildren Rebecca (Justin), Nathan, Hannah, Mark, Raya, Mitchell and Lindsay and NanaBanana to Abielle, Royal and Natalie. She will be dearly missed by extended family, including nephew David Parker in Australia. Predeceased by her adored brother Bill Parker and nephew Colonel Geoff Parker (Afghanistan). Jean cared deeply for others as reflected by her choice of a career in nursing. Born in Essex to Margaret (Keane) and Edmund Parker, Jean trained at Grace Hospital in Windsor, later serving as Head Nurse in the OB-GYN unit for over 25 years. She then transitioned to public health nursing. Jean inspired all of those she touched by her love of life, sense of humour, kindness and generosity of spirit. She taught us wisdom, grace, hospitality and shared her love of nature, beauty and art through her sense of style, her home and garden, sewing projects and travel adventures. Our family treasures memories of cottage times, celebrations, family pets and the thrill of the hunt. The family thanks the outstanding health care staff of the Palliative Care Units at TEGH and Bridgepoint and the CCAC staff for their kindness and expert care. Let us honour the birthday and amazing life of Jean on Saturday, July 9, 2016 between 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at McDougall & Brown Funeral Home, 2900 Kingston Rd., Toronto, ON (416-267-4656). Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. on Sunday, July 10, 2016. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial gift donation to Covenant House or The Salvation Army. Now joyful in her eternal home with God.
