JOHANNES “JOHN” SMIT July 17, 1940 – April 18, 2017 The Lord took him to his mansion of many rooms, peacefully, surrounded by family April 18, 2017. John was brave man who faced many health challenges and is finally in his forever resting place. He will be missed by his loving wife of 54 years Ena, children Ron (Sue), Deborah (Robert) and Jennifer and was adored by his eight grandchildren Jordan, Ben, Alexandria, Jeremy, Nathan, Julia, Jake and Liam. He also leaves behind older siblings Margo, Jan, Bets, Hank, Joyce and Piet and is fondly remembered as “Uncle Hans” by his many nieces and nephews. Friends and family will be received at MARSHALL FUNERAL HOME, 10366 Yonge Street, Richmond Hill, on Thursday, April 20th, 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Friday, April 21st at 11 a.m., Richmond Hill Community CRC, 45 Crosby Avenue in Richmond Hill. Interment at Elgin Mills Cemetery. Memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society in John Smit’s name would be welcomed by the family.
