JOHN THOMAS ENGLISH Passed away peacefully in his sleep, on Saturday, April 1, 2017, in the Collingwood Hospital with his wife at his side. He was born on December 14, 1928 in Paris, Ontario. John grew up in Paris, Ontario and then went on to McMaster University where he studied to become an Actuary. He was an Actuary in Boston and Louisville for a number of years and then returned to Canada where he became President of Toronto Mutual Life in Toronto, where he would go on to meet the love of his life. John and Glendene met in 1984 and then went on to wed in 1988. They shared great memories in their homes in Toronto and Collingwood, as well as sharing many warm winters in Naples, Florida and their beloved Sanibel. John loved a great meal whether it was at his favourite restaurant, the Granite Club or the Badminton and Racquet Club of Toronto. John’s biggest joys in life were his grandchildren Morgan Kelsey Sivers and Martha Mae Pearman. He will always be remembered and cherished as their loving and jolly Grandpa Johnnie. John is survived by his wife Glendene English and their children Drew (Carm) and Jillian (Bradley) and grandchildren Morgan and Martha Mae. A funeral service will be held at All Saints’ Anglican Church, 32 Elgin St. in Collingwood, on Thursday, April 6, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. and a Celebration of Life will be held at the Granite Club on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 from 6:30 – 9:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to All Saints’ Anglican Church.
