KLIMASKO, Rose (nee Boyko) Passed away peacefully at Rosslyn House on Friday, September 23, 2016 in her 89th year. Beloved wife of the late Dr. Stephen P. Klimasko for 62 years. Much loved mother of Rosemarie of Ottawa, Nadya (Carmen Carrabs – deceased) of Hamilton, Elaine (Edward Blais) of Ottawa, Sonia (Bill Leheniuk) of Toronto, Gloria (Jim Robson) of Stouffville, Tania (Anthony Hoffman) of Maryhill, and Stephen Klimasko of Mississauga. Cherished Baba of Adrienne (Anton Osfolk), Michael Blais, Zachary, Nastassia and Andrei Leheniuk, Clayton, Kyle and Katharine Hoffman, Kayla and Machias Klimasko, and beloved great-grandmother of Nyla and Ellery Osfolk. Beloved sister of Anne (Alex Dumalski-deceased) Mary (Mike Soltys-deceased), George Boyko-deceased (Olga) and Matt Boyko-deceased. Rose was born in Goodeve, Saskatchewan on October 25, 1926 to parents Michael and Sophie Boyko. Family was very important to Rose; vivid special memories included visits with kin. In 1945, she married Captain Stephen P. Klimasko. They settled in Hamilton where they raised 7 children. Dr. Klimasko practiced dentistry and Rose was his indispensable manager in the dental office and right hand partner at home. Rose belonged to the Women’s Auxiliary of the Hamilton Academy of Dentistry and the Hamilton Dental Nurses and Assistants Association. Rose and Stephen were avid world travellers, visiting many countries and continents together over the years. They visited their cherished homeland, Ukraine, many times. She was a member of the Ukrainian Women’ s Association, Lesia Ukrainka Branch and a devout member of St. Vladimir Orthodox parish in Hamilton for 75 years. Rose was a very creative soul who loved to play the violin and sing. As a student, she was passionate about writing stories, winning awards. She was a penpal with Anne Evankow of Barrhead, Alberta for over 75 years. Rose became a skilled seamstress; her outstanding dressmaking accomplishments were published in the Hamilton Spectator. She was also recognized for her oil painting and international cooking. Rose was an outstanding mother, raising her children with unconditional love, patience and support. Anyone who ever met Rose loved her. She will be dearly missed by all. Visitation at MARKEY DERMODY FUNERAL HOME, 1774 King Street East (at Kenilworth) on Wednesday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. with Panachyda at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Service in the Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, September 29, 2016 at 10 a.m. Interment Woodland Cemetery.
